Description
The Protector – The Kilauea Lighthouse was constructed in 1913 and was manned until 1974, at which point it became automated. About a decade later it was converted into a visitor center and is now operated by the Kilauea Point Natural History Association. I wanted to do a painting of this historical landmark and honor it’s service – I also thought the title was well representative of the ‘protection’ that if offered sailors throughout the years.
This seascape oil painting was painted on a 8×10 panel.
SOLD! – This piece sold at Amy Lauren’s A Gallery in Hanapepe, Hawaii.
